This is an odd tale. Cochise County Deputy Marshall John
Coby was out and about on November 19 with Hawk, his K-9 partner. For
some reason that is not clear his dog attacked him, latching onto his
leg and refusing to let go. When the dog would not let go Coby gimped
into the john, dragging the dog with him, in the hopes the calmer
environment would get the dog to back off. Didn't happen. Coby shot
the dog. Coby was then airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries
to his leg and ankle.
Coby is still off on medical leave. The S.O. has contacted a dog behavioral specialist to investigate the incident.
