Steven Sopko. Inset: Braylon Hardges.
Steven
Sopko, now 17, has just been sentenced to life for shooting Braylon
Hardges, 14,
13 times in the back, killing him. The young murderer will
have to do at least 31 years before
he is eligible for parole.
In
November of last year the two boys were heading somewhere after they
had visited Sopko's
girlfriend in Cleveland, Ohio. As they were walking
down the street Sopko dropped back a
couple of paces and fired 12 shots
rapid fire into Hardges back, and then fired a 13th shot as
he lay on
the ground. Sopko then beat feet. Sopko has refused to give an
explanation of his
actions.
He was arrested on January 4 of this year after a brief standoff with police.
