Two Stockton men are in custody for their exercise of a little religious freedom, which they unfortunately choose to exercise on someone who wasn't interested.
Jose Magana-Farias, 42, and his son, Victor Farias, 20, are now guests of San Joaquin County for kidnapping, false imprisonment and conspiracy. They decided that they didn't like the “new” attitude of a woman, who was the ex of the older man and the mother of the younger. They concluded that her attitude must be due to possession by a demon, and they kidnapped her in order to exorcise that demon. The woman's roommate called the cops and reported the kidnapping, and the cops managed to track her down and free her, unharmed but very angry.
They are being held pending a bail of $535,000 so maybe they aren't real happy either.
