Massachusetts taxpayers to be stuck with more than $50,000 for a transgender murderer’s sex change operation
In 1990, Michelle Kosilek, formerly Robert John Kosilek, was convicted of strangling his wife Cheryl McCaul to death and sentenced to life without parole. Kosilek began transgendering into a female in the late ‘60’s. He had changed his first name to Michelle while awaiting trial. Nonetheless, Michelle was sent to a prison for men.
In 2012, after Michelle had filed several lawsuits against the State of Massachusetts demanding a sex change operation, U.S. District Judge Mark Wolf ruled that correctional officials had violated Kosilek's constitutional rights by denying him "sex reassignment surgery," accusing correction officials of engaging in "pretense, pretext, and prevarication" to deny him the operation. On Friday, in a 2-1 decision, a three-judge panel of the First Circuit Court of Appeals upheld Judge Wolf’s ruling.
It seems incredulous to me that a court would rule that taxpayers can be stuck with more than $50,000 for the sex change operation of a convicted murderer. Let Kosilek or 'her' family members pay for the operation, but not the poor fucking taxpayers.

I hope they appeal this decision. I doubt that they will.
