SELF-AIMING RIFLES AND PISTOLS

TrackingPoint, an Austin, Texas-based gun manufacturer, has developed a semi-automatic self-aiming rifle with a range of 500 yards, a self-aiming rifle with a range of 1,200 yards, and a self-aiming pistol

According to Digital Trends, the new 500 Series AR Smart Rifle uses the Tag Track Xact (TTX) system which tracks a target continuously by automatically calculating “range, drop, magnus effect, spindrift, coriolis effect, direction, cant, inclination, pressure, temperature, humidity, muzzle velocity, barrel length and twist, lock time, ballistic coefficient, and drag coefficient.” Batteries operate the TTX system. The shooter will have to input the wind direction and speed.

The new rifle has five times the accuracy of most experienced shooters. It tracks a target even if it is moving as fast as 10mph.

Using the TTX ballistic system, shooters simply tag the target they want to shoot, pull the trigger, and the instant that the shot is lined up, the AR Smart Rifle fires a round. Shooters can also re-tag their target as many times as they like, to ensure the best possible shot.

TrackingPoint is exhibiting its self-aiming firearms at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and is taking orders now for the new 500 Series AR Smart Rifles, which come in either 7.62, .300 BLK, and 5.56 calibers. The price is $9,950. Shipments will start in October.
