KERRY SINGLES OUT ISRAEL FOR BLAME IN FAILURE OF PEACE TALKS

Says Israel’s failure to release 26 Palestinian prisoners and its announcement of building 700 new housing units in East Jerusalem was responsible for the peace talks going ‘poof’

Appearing Tuesday before the Senate Foreign Relations committee, Secretary of State John Kerry faced three hours of blistering criticisms over his foreign policy fiascos. Naturally, Kerry defended his handling of the Ukraine and Syrian situations, and the Iran nuclear negotiations. But when it came to the moribund Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, Kerry singled out Israel as the main obstacle to achieving a breakthrough.

While Kerry blamed both sides, he singled out Israel for not releasing 26 terrorists and for announcing 700 new housing units in East Jerusalem. Here is what Kerry said about the collapse of the peace talks:

“The [Palestinian] prisoners were not released by Israel on the day they were supposed to be released and then another day passed and another day – and then 700 [housing] units were approved in Jerusalem and then poof.”

In his appearance before the Senate committee, Kerry ignored the fact that Israel was prepared to release the fourth and final batch of 26 prisoners provided the Palestinians agreed to extend the talks past April 29, something they refused to do. Israel had already released 78 of the terrorists. As for the new housing units, Kerry conveniently disregarded the fact that in 1980 Israel declared all of Jerusalem, both its eastern and western sectors, to be its undivided capital and has never agreed to refrain from building in its own capital.

Naturally, the international community has never recognized Israel’s annexation of East Jerusalem and considers all settlements to be illegal. Why? First of all, the Muslim world is united in its opposition to Israel. But more significant, the rest of the world feared a cutoff of Arab oil if it recognized Israel’s annexation of Jerusalem and the West Bank settlements as being legal.

As for Kerry, when all else fails, blame it on Israel. Damn those damn Jews for fucking up Kerry’s quest for a Nobel Peace Prize.
