Instead of holding a gun, the robber held only a bullet

A fairly odd armed robbery went down at a gas station at about 0230 hours on Thursday on Patterson Pass Road near Tracy, California.
A guy named Joy Terrell Pryor, 32, walked into the gas station, brandished a live .45 ACP cartridge, and demanded money. The clerk gave him $5 and he left. He was arrested in the parking lot by the SO. He had no gun, just one live round.
Maybe the guy was just on a permanent bummer due to having such a gender-inappropriate name. It also seems strange to me that the clerk was fearful of a loaded round of ammo. It also seems odd that the SO arrived so quickly in the middle of nowhere in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
There is a lot of strangeness to this one.
