ILLEGAL POT THRIVES IN POT LEGAL COLORADO

Illegal pot sales are sharply up in Colorado since pot sales became legal

The Washington Post reports that marijuana thrives on Colorado black market despite legal sales. In Colorado, you can buy pot cheaper on the black market because illicit pot is sold without the buyers having to fork up the state tax they have to pay at the legal pot shops.

This reminds me of when New York legalized off-track betting and established state-run betting shops. That was supposed to end illegal bookmaking operations. Not so! The illegal betting business soared because more people started to gamble and they could bet on the cuff with a bookie while the betting shops were a cash only business.

I predict that the same thing will happen with illegal pot sales in the state of Washington. And both states, Colorado and Washington, will see significant increase in the number of people using marijuana and the problems associated with the use of pot.
