PRESIDENT OBAMA INTERVIEWED FOR ONE HOUR BY A BOBBLEHEAD

For one solid hour, Thomas Friedman relentlessly kept nodding during each of President Obama’s responses to the questions posed by the New York Times columnist

Over the years, I have watched many interviews of prominent politicians and other notable individuals on TV, and I have never seen any interviewer look like a bobblehead the way Thomas Friedman looked during an hour-long interview with President Obama on August 8.

Some might think that I’m casting aspersions at Friedman because I detest that Jewish Israel-hating New York Times columnist. But in this case, anyone watching the interview - which was videotaped by the Times - would see exactly why I described Friedman as a bobblehead. The only time Friedman did not bobble his head was when he asked Obama a question.

The interview, which was conducted by Friedman one day after Obama announced the U.S. would conduct air strikes against ISIS, covered a wide range of topics on foreign and domestic affairs. Obama came across rather well, but then Friedman tossed only softballs at the President.

Speaking of Israel, Obama said: “It is amazing to see what Israel has become over the last several decades. To have scratched out of rock this incredibly vibrant, incredibly successful, wealthy and powerful country is a testament to the ingenuity, energy and vision of the Jewish people.”

My only beef with Obama’s responses to Friedman’s questions concerns his statement about Mahmoud Abbas when he said, “Abu Mazen is genuine in his belief in a two-state solution.”

Genuine? Nothing could be further from the truth! Obama is relying on statements Abbas has made when addressing the Europeans and Americans in English. But the president is turning a deaf ear to repeated vows made by Abbas in Arabic that there will be only one state from the [Jordan] River to the [Mediterranean] Sea, and that is a Palestinian state.

It should be ntoeworthy that Obama referred to Abbas by his nom de guerre, Abu Mazen, every time he mentioned the Palestinian leader’s name.

It’s a wonder that Bobblehead Friedman did not suffer a good case of whiplash from the hundreds of nods he made during the interview.
