Guy Allen Dietz, 43, of Calabasas, California is not a nice guy. He is an ex-con sex offender who seems to be posing as a cop of late and using that persona to commit rape.
Dietz presented himself as a cop at a private home in Torrance. He had a badge of some sort and handcuffs. He thumped the woman but she got away and managed to call the real cops. He then took off, leading the cops on a high-speed chase into Monterrey County, where he was finally snagged. He was transferred back to Torrance and will be arraigned this morning.
I have been informed by someone familiar with his situation that he had previously been arrested for failure to register as a sex offender, but had bailed out on that charge.
I wonder if the impersonation as a peace officer and simple assault are low-level, non-violent offenses like failure to register is? You never know, he could be back out on the streets real soon.
