RUSSIAN NUCLEAR ROCKET MOTOR FAILS SPECTACULARLY

by Bob Walsh

The Russkies have been working on a nuclear powered rocket or cruise missile for years. They haven't got it down yet. They tried on Thursday of last week. It failed, killing seven people, including some of the scientists in the program. The accident, at the Nenoksa Missile Test Site, released significant radiation in a small area. So far all prototypes of the nuclear powered cruise missile, called Skyfall by NATO, have failed to one degree or another.

The idea is to create a low speed, low altitude missile with extraordinary range that could fly a meandering course to make it much harder to spot and intercept. It is allegedly one of Vlad's pet projects.
