Sina Pili is, or at least was, a social worker in
Hawaii. She has a masters degree in social work and was an adjunct
professor at BYU-Hawaii. Since her grand jury indictment her contract
was terminated and her photo no longer appears on the college web site.
She was also employed as a behavioral health specialist at Kahuku High
and Intermediate School, where she was when she was arrested. She has
been charged with endangering the welfare of a minor, persistent
non-support and manslaughter in the death of Azaeliyah Pili-Ah You.
The
11-year old died in December of 2023. Visible bruises were found on
Azaeliyah's body. The cause and manner of death were unclear at that
time and the cops started looking into the possible mistreatment of four
other adopted children, all under the age of 13.
It
was finally concluded that she had been beaten extensively, bitten and
strangled. She was also suffering from pneumonia and tested positive
for Covid-19.
Ms. Pili's husband has not been arrested in the death but is still being investigated as a suspect.
