readers will recall I have written a time or three about the troubles
of the Antioch (CA) police department. Devon Wenger, a former officer
of that force, is about to be sentenced for assorted nastiness. He is
the last of 14 members of that agency to land on the wrong side of the
law. The feds are requesting that the judge hammer him.
He
and his lawyer are hoping for three years as a guest of the people.
The feds are requesting nine years. They point to his text messages
(stupid bastard) in which seems to revel in harming people physically
and ripping off the city. One of his co-defendants got seven years.
Wengers trial was severed from that co-defendant, Morteza Amiri, after
his lawyer had something of a crash-and-burn.
