That tanker the U. S. seized a couple of days ago was NOT
a Nicaraguan flagged vessel. It was falsely flying a Guyana flag (above).
Stateless vessels are not recognized by maritime law and can be
legitimately seized by any nation that cares to do so (assuming I
remember my maritime law correctly, and I think I do).
I was wrong, but then again so were the news stories I picked that up from.
