DREAM ACT

Latinos are up in arms because the Senate killed the Dream Act, which if passed would have granted American citizenship to illegal immigrants who were brought to the U.S. as little children, provided they served in the military or attended college.

Now, I do not have any problem granting citizenship to illegals if they served honorably in our armed forces. They deserve the rights of citizenship, regardless of their immigrant status before entering the military service.

But granting citizenship to an illegal for attending college? Come on, give me a break! That’s not a good enough reason. No personal sacrifice in behalf of this country is involved by attending college.

I can tell you what would happen in our colleges had the Dream Act become law. It would have been just like what happened during the Vietnam War. Many colleges refused to flunk students because had they done so, those students would have lost their student exemptions and the poor bastards would have been shipped off to fight in the war.

Had the Dream Act passed, left-wing professors would not flunk any Latino students, no matter if they were too dumb for college or too lazy to do their assigned work, for fear of preventing them from attaining their citizenship. And it wouldn’t take any time at all for the word to get out on which professors to 'study' under if you wanted to become a citizen.
