Director of Los Angeles Police Protective League warns LA Police Commission their rules to reduce the number of shootings by police "will get officers killed, plain and simple."
The LA Police Commission, alarmed by the number of people shot by cops, adopted some rules that require officers to hesitate before resorting to the use of deadly force.
Jamie McBride, a director of the Los Angeles Police Protective League, strongly objected to those rules before the commission last month. Here is some of what he told the commission:
"Every second counts, and hesitation will kill you."
"[The rules] will get officers killed, plain and simple."
"Make no mistake, if an officer is killed as a result .... [his] blood will be on your hands."
McBride’s comments fell on deaf ears. Chief Charlie Beck, protecting his job, agreed to implement the proposed rules.
As for the number of young blacks getting shot by the police, South Los Angeles can’t be much different from Chicago where a concerned black mother said, “Half the time, these babies [black teens] probably do have guns, so it's like, ‘[I'm going to] shoot first before I get killed.’”
What the commissioners apparently do not realize, and what Chief Beck chose to ignore, is that among life’s choices, sometimes it’s kill or be killed.

These cops aren't Superman. The bullets will not bounce off.
Most police managers and administrators are not cops, they are politicians. They tend to make decisions in order to protect their jobs and their political power, not to protect their officers or the general public. They are political whores.
