She must have slept through the Robbery 101 lesson about not letting the victim get hold of the gun and the lesson about not using a gun that can be traced directly to you
At 5:45 a.m. Thursday, a woman wearing a hoodie and a mask entered the lobby of the Victoria Suites in Warren, Michigan. Gun in hand, she confronts the hotel clerk and demands he hand over the money money. The clerk complies. So far so good. Give her an ‘A’.
But then she stops to count the money. For that you need two hands. So she lays the gun down on the counter. The hotel clerk, 58-year-old Alan Noel, grabs the gun. That’s not good. Take away the ‘A’ and give her an ‘F’.
As soon as Noel grabs the gun he jumps over the counter and gets into a wrestling match with the woman. The gun goes off and ends up on the floor. She breaks away but Noel tackles her. Then he tried to force her into the bathroom so he can lock her up until the cops come. She breaks away, leaving the gun behind, and dashes out the door.
No one was injured when the gun went off. Noel received some minor injuries during the scuffle with the robber.
The gun enabled police to track down the woman to Novi, Michigan where she was arrested later on Thursday. Police say the gun belongs to the unnamed 32-year-old woman’s boyfriend. She is also suspected of robbing a Days Inn in Roseville recently.
Robbery 101 is not all that hard of a course, but this woman flat flunked it.

In California we call that "felony stupid" but also in CA we would prosecute the boy friend for having the gun in the first place and send the robber to a class in basic logic at the local community college. We would also prosecute the clerk for assaulting the robber.
