The University of Virginia has forced an engineering and business professor to take a leave of absence after he spoke out against the Black Lives Matter thugs.
The professor is Doug Muir. Last week he wrote on his Facebook page that “Black lives matter is the biggest racist organization after the clan (sic). Are you kidding me? Disgusting!!!”
UVA said, “While free speech and open discussion are fundamental principles of our nation and the University, Mr. Muir’s comment was entirely inappropriate.”
Clearly UVA is only in favor of free speech if it is liberal free speech. Conservative or even reasonable and responsible free speech is frowned up and even prohibited and subject to sanction.
The University also said that Muir agreed to take the leave. I wonder if that means he is actually planning to sue. There is ample precedent.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Muir was only an adjunct professor, meaning that he was part-time, teaching only one or at most two courses. His principal business was running the restaurant he owns. BLM supporters have called for a boycott of the restaurant.
