Manteca, CA. is basically a very nice place. I lived there for years as a renter but when I married and bought a home I couldn't afford anything there (due to the Bay Area commuters) and bought in Stockton.
A few days back two young black men beat the crap out of a Sikh gentleman, 71 years old, who was walking in the park minding his own business. They knocked him down (kicked him down actually) kicked him while he was down and spit on him. Fortunately the whole thing was caught on pretty good surveillance footage from across the street.
Two young men were quickly taken into custody in Modesto. One of them, 18 year old Tyrone McAllister, is the estranged son of the Chief of Police of Union City, in the Bay Area. He was fully supportive of and helpful to the Manteca investigation. A second young man, a juvenile, was also taken into custody. Young McAllister is apparently a thorough asshole with one prior stint in jail already for violence.
There is a bit of a language problem as the victim does not speak English, but this may be charged as a hate crime. They are being charged with attempted robbery, elder abuse and ADW.
In CA. a shod foot is a deadly weapon. Kicking a man when he is down is considered assault with a deadly weapon and assault likely to result in great bodily harm.
