The Blue Bottle is a new, high-end coffee shop with a small number of shops across the country. They do NOT accept cash. This will be a month-long experiment to see if it speeds things along.
At one time I thought this was illegal, that businesses HAD to accept cash. Apparently I was wrong. There are several restaurants in the greater S.F. area that already accept zero cash.

I seldom spend cash anymore. I carry a small amount in my wallet in case it's needed. I buy everything on credit and pay the bill in full each month. I accumulate airline miles and I haven't bought a plane ticket in 5 years. On average I fly 6 round trips per year. I also get 1st round boarding and free drinks. I pay $100 a year for the credit card which also applies to the air miles.
