President Trump said in a tweet on Monday that U. S. Immigration are planning to make mass arrests starting next week in major cities across the U. S.
Whether this is a real threat or an attempt by Trump to initiate some self-deportations is not clear. In addition, it is possible he wants to create a situation so that he can move against some sanctuary city government officials and maybe actually take them into custody for interfering with federal officers. Wouldn't that be a hoot?
The current head of ICE, Mark Morgan, says he believes that ignoring illegal aliens brings disregard for laws in general (I think he is right there) and has a negative influence on the whole legal system.
That being said it seems unlikely that ICE will deport "millions" of people, if nothing else they don't have the budget to do it. But it would be nice to see Nancy Pelosi and AOC scream like mashed cats.
