Fired officer Garrett Rolfe, 27, has been charged with 11 counts including felony murder, a charge that carries a possible sentence of life without parole or the death penalty, for shooting dead Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta.

Arrest warrants have been issued for both Rolfe and Officer Devin Brosnan, 26. They have until Thursday at 6pm to turn themselves in.

Brosnan faces three charges including aggravated assault and has agreed to testify against Rolfe.

Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard announced the charges in the highly controversial shooting at a press conference this afternoon. Howard revealed that Brosnan had admitted to standing on Brooks's shoulders while he lay dying – an unauthorized control technique.

The medical examiner declared Brooks' death a homicide on Sunday, citing the cause as organ damage and blood loss caused by the gunshot wounds.

It was reported that two Atlanta Precincts covering the South side walked away last night. The Mayor pleaded for them to come back and uphold their commitment to the city. Even dangling a pay raise. State police were later seen in Atlanta taking calls. Rumor has it that neighboring police refused to assist Atlanta.

Atlanta, GA — The head of Atlanta’s police union confirmed Wednesday that officers from the Atlanta Police Department in Zones 3 and 6 walked off the job Wednesday afternoon.
Vince Champion, southeast regional director of the International Brotherhood of Police officers, said that police officers had stopped answering calls midshift, in response to charges against Officer Garrett Rolfe who is accused of murdering Rayshard Brooks in Atlanta.
“The union, we would never advocate this. We wouldn’t advocate a blue flu,” Champion said. “We don’t know the numbers. Apparently we’re learning that command staff are asking outlying counties for support and aren’t getting it.”
Decaturish has calls out to public affairs officers in Gwinnett, DeKalb and Cobb counties for confirmation.
A spokesperson for APD called reports of a walkout “inaccurate.”
“Earlier suggestions that multiple officers from each zone had walked off the job were inaccurate,” the spokesperson said. “However, the department is experiencing a higher than usual number of call-outs with the incoming shift. We have enough resources to maintain operations and remain able to respond to incidents throughout the city.”
Zones 3 and 6 cover south Atlanta, where Rolfe killed Rayshard Brooks after a June 12 DUI arrest turned into an altercation.

I've been listening to two separate districts in Atlanta for about thirty minutes.. All I hear are mic clicks. No traffic whatsoever.
The blue flu has set in.
I've been out of the game for a few years now, like these guys, fed up with the politics that happen and the low pay. I'm outraged by what is taking place in this country and could go on days long rants about the bullshit that every member of LE is having to deal with right now. I may formulate my thoughts into a post at some point but at UTS we're more about helping our brothers and sisters through these times.

There is a difference, small though it may be, between walking off the job and not answering calls. I doubt very much the r&f of the Atlanta P D is in favor of what happened in the death of Rayshard Brooks. However, cops tend to be big fans of fairness and due process. Firing and arresting a cop before ANY sort of investigation has taken place does not fit the bill. The Mayor threw the cop under the PC bus and then virtue signaled about it. The cops don't think that's right. I agree.
