JUDGE SLAPS DOWN GOVERNOR NEWSOM JUST A TAD

by Bob Walsh

Gavin Newsom is the Governor of the formerly great state of California.  He is a pretty solid leftie.  All of the state's constitutional officers are Democrat-Socialists and the Democrat-Socialist party has a supermajority in both houses of the legislature.  Conservatives and/or Republicans are tolerated but not really listened to.  Usually.

Perry Parker, a Superior Court Judge in Sutter County, has just issued an order severely limited the "emergency powers" that Newsom has claimed for himself, allegedly made necessary by the public health emergency.

The order in general directs the Governor "from further exercising any legislative powers in violation of the California Constitution and applicable statue, specifically from unilaterally amending, altering, or changing existing statutory law or making new statutory law."  A further hearing is scheduled on June 26 to consider a formal injunction.

The order was sought by GOP Assemblymen Kevin Kiley and James Gallagher.

The Governor has issued more than 40 executive orders related to the Covid-19 alleged emergency.  These orders halt evictions, delay collection of fees and taxes, allow marriages by video or teleconference, and to hold electronic public meetings rather than real public meetings.

The judges order specifically bars Newsom from enacting new rules on election procedures.

Judicial Watch is working on the federal courts with regards to Newsom's plan to blanket the state with mail ballots for the November election.
