Thanksgiving
turned to crap for the a Georgia family due to carelessness and
stupidity. The father of a three-year old boy left his loaded handgun
unsecured where the little tyke could get ahold of it. He did, and shot
his 5-year old cousin to death. At this stage they are operating in
the belief that the three-year old did not intentionally kill his cousin
and very likely did not know the gun was real.
I
have no idea what laws, if any, there are about the safe storage of
handguns. That being said just putting down or hiding a gun where a
three year old lives is not going to do the job. At the very least it
should be unloaded and separated from the ammunition and locked when the
rugrats are around.
The matter is still under investigation. No charges have been filed. Yet.
