AND THE SURVIVOR IS BEING CHARGED UNDER THE FELONY MURDER RULE

by Bob Walsh

So these two teenagers, 15 and 17, contact a guy making an internet gun sale and arrange to meet him in the parking lot of the Target store in Hialeah, Florida.  The boys handed over a fistful of counterfeit cash.  The seller uses one of the magic pens and informs them that he does not take counterfeit money.  The 15-year, Raul Araujo, old pulls a gun and the 17-year old grabs the two guns and they try to beat feet.

The gun seller then pulls his own gat and starts blasting.  The 17-year old died, the 15-year old stopped a couple of bullets but survived and is now in custody.  The gun the 15-year old had was stolen.  He is being charged with armed robbery and murder (for the death of his partner) under the felony murder rule.

This sort of attempted rip-off is so common in the area that the local constabulary maintains "Safe Haven" exchange sites for purchase exchanges, many in the public parking lots of police stations, which are accessible 24 hours.
