PARENTS BEING CHARGED IN MICHIGAN SCHOOL SHOOTING

by Bob Walsh

James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of Oxford High School shooter Ethan Crumbley, have been charged each with four counts of involuntary manslaughter in relation to the shooting.

Michigan does NOT have a mandatory secure storage firearms law.  There is significant social media traffic from both the son and the parents that clearly indicates the son had unfettered access to the weapon and that both of the parents and the kid believed the gun was functionally a Christmas present for him.

The 15-year old is facing 24 felony counts relating to the shootings, which include four deaths.

I'm not sure I see the reasoning for charging the parents, but I haven't really followed the story so maybe there is.
