country to avoid being drafted to fight in the Ukraine

few days ago Vlad the real estate thief announced a call-up of 300,000
Russian reservists to fight in Ukraine. The response was almost
instantaneous. Tens of thousands of Russians of military age discovered
a sudden need to visit friends in Finland. The traffic load is so high
Finland announced they may close down the border crossings.

and large Russians are true patriots. If they think Mother Russia is
threatened they respond. My inclination is that they do NOT believe
that is what is happening. They know the Ukrainian invasion for what it
is and are not interested in being untrained cannon fodder.
Those
who are unable to evade or avoid are being given two weeks of
orientation and refresher training before being shipped west. Vlad is
also specifically threatening to use nukes, though most of the
reasonable talking head former military types think that is unlikely to
happen. They point out that the current Russian army is not only not
trained but is not equipped to work in a "hot" battle field. It is of
course possible that Russia will be perfectly happy with a radioactive
Ukraine as a buffer against western aggression. I guess it kind of
depends on how sane Vlad really is.
