One thing we know for sure is that Rob Bonta, the very liberal Attorney General of the formerly great state of California, has pulled the L A S O off of an investigation of L A County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl and some of her road dogs, allegedly in the "public interest."

There is some level of belief that Sheriff Villanueva is in fact using the investigation as a blatant attack on his political enemies.  They might even be right.

Last week the S. O. seized records and electronic devices from the Metropolitan Transportation Agency and Supervisor Kuehl's home.  This was apparently / allegedly done as part of an investigation into a series of contracts awarded by the MTA to a domestic violence nonprofit organization run by Patti Giggans, who shares a residence with Sheila Kuehl.

Sheriff Villanueva has asserted that Kuehl and Giggans were tipped off in advance of the searches.

Also, last week Superior Court Judge William Ryan issued an order to the L A S O barring the S O from examining the electronic devices seized due to possible issues with the search warrant.

At issue are a series of contracts, totaling about $800,000 over six years, to the non-profit to operate a sexual harassment hotline for the MTA.  The hotline has allegedly been an abject failure but was continually extended without competitive bid or analysis of the program.

It should also be noted that Ms. Goggins is a member of the Sheriff's Civilian Oversight Commission and is NOT a fan of the Sheriff.
