TEACHER GETS PROTECTION ORDER AGAINST STUDENT

By Bob Walsh

The teaching aide has obtained a permanent injunction against Depa, who threatened to kill her. 'No one should ever have to endure what I went through that day,' she said

Brendan Depa, 17, can be named for the first time after the Seventh Judicial Court of Florida ruled that he would be transferred to adult court

She hits the ground head-first, rendering her unconscious. The student immediately begins kicking her before kneeling down to punch her in the head and torso          Brendan Depa

Joan Naydich, a teacher's aide in Florida who was thumped pretty badly by Brendan Depa, 17, a student at her school, has been awarded an order of protection against Depa.

Depa has been charged as an adult and was apparently the phsyicaly largest person in court at his arraignment.  He is considered a special needs student, apparently because he is large and dangerous.  He pleaded not guilty to felony battery on an education employee.  The judge ordered a mental health eval for Depa, who has three priors for violent behavior.
