Sirhan Sirhan, possibly the most famous denizen of the
California prison system now that Charlie Manson is dead, was denied
parole again.
The 78-year
old assassin was actually recommended for parole two years ago but the
Governor, in one of the few sensible moves he has ever made, pulled the
rug out from under him. The composition of the parole board has changed
since then and the new board did not feel inclined to parole the
asshole.
Sirhan's lawyer,
Angela Berry, complained vigorously. Tough shit. Most of the members
of the Kennedy family are still vigorously opposed to Sirhan's
release.
Berry is still
actively trying to reverse Newsom's decision to pull Sirhan's parole
from two years ago thru the courts. Since statute law in CA is pretty
clear on the subject I would not bet much on her chances of success.
