One woman, who goes by Shelby on TikTok, posted a clip, which quickly amassed over 4.1 million views, to detail her poop experiences at TJ Maxx.
Showing herself inside the discount store, she said: 'Me walking into a TJ Maxx.'
Then, she revealed she would always have the sudden urge to poop.
Following Shelby's video, many others on the social media platform shared their similar experiences.
Content creator Mary took to TikTok and noted that any 'florescent lighting' in discount stores like TJ Maxx or Marshalls made her need to rush to the restroom.
'Every time I step foot into a store with fluorescent lights,' she said as she showed herself running to the bathroom.
Other creators quickly hopped on the trend.
One user suggested entering the discount store if you 'haven't pooped in three days,' while another person claimed she poops 'every single time' she shops at TJ Maxx.
'Do I have to poop or am I just at TJ Maxx?' joked content creator Siarra.
One person even suggested that her urge to poop at the discount store was because she was 'hot.'

'Omg I thought it was just me, this doesn’t happen to me anywhere else except TJ Maxx!' said one person.
One employee even chimed in: 'As a TJ Maxx associate without the privilege of an associate bathroom, we are very well aware and you’re not alone.'

And while it may seem like an odd phenomenon, there is a theory behind the poop madness.
It's known as the Mariko Aoki phenomenon, and while it claims that people have the urge to poop when entering a book store, it can apply to other locations as well.
According to the hypothesis, the smell of books in a bookstore may trigger a bowel movement.
And it's not just book stores, but anywhere that relaxes your senses, meaning that if the smell of TJ Maxx makes you feel comfortable, you are more likely to poop.
According to Eating Well, when you are relaxed, sensory cells work to analyze your surroundings, and then send a message to your brain that tells it to go to the bathroom.
Your brain will decide whether or not to team up with your gut and begin to get your bowels moving.
This happens when you are comfortable, which is why many people only poop when at home or in relaxing stores.
