Sutter Health Park
Sacramento has been a big sports town for as long as I can remember. They will be a bit bigger now, at least for a while.
The
Oakland As announced today that they are moving to Sacramento for about
three years, until their new park in Vegas is built. They could not
come to a deal with the city of Oakland to extend their contract. The
minor league ball park in Sacramento (used to be Raley Field, is now
Sutter Health Park) is really first class. It is a bit small for a
modern ball park, but is a first quality venue other than the size. I
think it seats a tad under 20,000.
Sacramento
has also been angling for a major Soccer club and seems likely to get
one at the next expansion. A deal for it feel thru a year or two back
when the deal to build an appropriate stadium fell apart due to a
funding issue.
I'm sure
they will find something to do with the old ball park. You could
probably house several thousand illegal aliens there. It would make a
nice site for a tent city. Close to transit.
