AUSTIN, Texas - Gov. Gregg Abbott announced a decision Tuesday directing the Texas Department of Public Safety to help Homeland Security in finding and arresting illegal immigrants.
According to a release, Abbott said the decision was made in support of President’s Trumps recent security initiatives.
"Texas is expanding our operations to assist President Donald Trump to protect Americans and enforce the rule of law,” Abbott said in the release.
“These teams will coordinate with Homeland Security agencies to track down the thousands of illegal immigrants with active warrants across Texas and deport them from our country,” he later added.
According to the release, the strike teams will include DPS troopers, special agents and the Texas Rangers.
