Police say Brandon Poulos (insert) shot at the officers who were responding to a "suicide in progress" call.
Police responded to a "suicide in progress" call in San
Antonio, TX. last night. The situation turned to shit and seven
officers were shot. Fortunately none of the wounds were
life-threatening and all officers are likely to be able to return to
full duty.
The initial call
came for an apartment complex. A second call came shortly after
reporting shots fired. The original call came from a family member of
the suspect. When the cops showed up an adult female exited the
apartment and said that Brandon Scott Poulos, 46, had been shooting
inside the apartment. About that time Poulos opened fire on the cops,
hitting one in the leg. More cops rolled up and Poulos began actively
engaging them, hitting a total of seven officers. Some of the wounds
were very minor and were treated at the scene.
A
SWAT team responded and attempted to negotiate with Poulos with no
luck. When the cops finally entered the apartment they found Poulos,
deader than dog shit. It is unclear if he self-rehabilitated or was
shot to death by one of the cops.
Poulos
had been arrested for violating a protection order on January 18 and
was released one day later on bail. I guess that turned out to be not
such a smart move.
