OUR APPLICATION OF CAPITAL PUNISHMENT MAKES ME PROUD TO BE A TEXAN

For years, left-wing anti-death penalty groups, particularly those in Europe, have slammed America’s use of capital punishment. And they have singled out Texas with their most scathing attacks because the Lone Star State has executed most of those put to death in the U.S. The Europeans seem to believe that Texas goes on a wanton killing spree, executing everyone in sight who has been accused of murder without regard to guilt or innocence.

For the information of all those busy-bodies – the European Union, the World Court, the Papacy in Rome, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, etc. – who keep sticking their noses into the way this Democracy punishes its murderers, only a very small handful of those charged with murder ever face the prospect of capital punishment.

As for that big bad State of Texas, the application of the death penalty has been limited by the state legislature to certain specified crimes, thus keeping over 90 percent of the state’s murderers from getting executed.

The following crimes are Capital Murder in Texas:

 murder of a public safety officer or firefighter;

 murder during the commission of kidnapping, burglary, robbery, aggravated sexual assault, arson, or obstruction or retaliation;

 murder for remuneration;

 murder during prison escape;

 murder of a correctional employee;

 murder by a state prison inmate who is serving a life sentence for any of five offenses (murder, capital murder, aggravated kidnapping, aggravated sexual assault, or aggravated robbery);

 multiple murders;

 murder of an individual under six years of age.

All other types of murders do NOT qualify for the death penalty!

Even after a murderer has been convicted for one of these crimes, it is still up to a jury to decide whether his punishment will be death or life in prison. And if he is sentenced to death, there is an automatic appeal to the state’s highest criminal appeals court. If the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals upholds the death sentence, endless appeals to state and fderal courts will follow. Those appeals have kept a bunch of subhuman scumbags squatting on death row for 10, 20 and even 30 years in some cases.

Can there be any doubt that scumbag murderers who commit those specified killings deserve to be put to death? Of course not! So, all you foreign busy-bodies keep you damn noses out of our business. As for me, our record in executing cold-blooded killers MAKES ME PROUD TO BE A TEXAN.
