FEINSTEIN: PRO-GUN LOBBY HAS HAMMERLOCK ON CONGRESS

Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Sunday she wants to renew her efforts to pass gun-control legislation in light of the Los Angeles airport shooting but that her bill would not stand a chance of passage because of opposition from the gun rights lobby.
"I think there is a hammer lock on the Congress by the gun owners and gun people, and it doesn’t matter," the California Democrat told CBS' "Face the Nation."
Feinstein said the gun used in the attack Friday that killed a TSA worker was not designed for use by the general public, but for military and police personnel only.
However, the Smith & Wesson .223-caliber rifle used by the attacker is widely distributed and one of the most popular firearms among gun owners in the U.S.
Feinstein, who authored the Assault Weapons Ban of 2013, said she did not know if the weapon had already been outlawed in her state.
