It is believed ICE banned British celebrity chef Nigella Lawson from entering the U.S. because she has admitted using pot and cocaine
British celebrity chef Nigella Lawson, 54, is a judge on The Taste, a U.S. cookery TV show aired on ABC. On Sunday morning she went to Heathrow Airport to catch a British Airways flight to Los Angeles. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement barred Lawson from boarding her flight. It is widely believed that ICE banned Nigella’s entry into the U.S. in response to her recent admission during a British court hearing that she had used marijuana and cocaine.
What the fuck is going on here? Why Nigella and not Paul McCartney or Rob Ford? Paul McCartney travels freely between the U.S. and Britain, even though he is a well-known user of marijuana, once having been unceremoniously tossed out of Japan for possession of pot. And Toronto Mayor Rob Ford is free to come and go between Canada and the U.S. despite the fact that he had recently been caught snorting cocaine.
I suspect McCartney gets a pass when Nigella doesn’t because he’s a billionaire who spends tons of money in the U.S. and makes tons of money for his American concert promoters. And Ford probably gets a pass because we don’t want to offend our good neighbor Canada. By comparison, Nigella, who was humiliated in her own country, apparently does not count for anything.
Any way you look at it, this stinks!
