Kristi Noem has lashed out at country music star Zach Bryan for his 'disrespectful' new song which includes lyrics taking aim at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The musician invited the furious wrath of MAGA fans on Monday after a snippet of his latest track Bad News went viral.
On Tuesday, Bryan, a veteran of the US Navy, addressed the scrutiny, taking to Instagram to explain his side - but only after Noem had issued her own take down in an interview with Benny Johnson.
'I hope Zach Bryan understands how completely disrespectful that song is, not just to law enforcement but to this country, to every single individual that has ever stood up and fought for our freedoms,' the Secretary of Homeland Security said.
'He just compromised it all by putting out a product such as that attacks individuals who are just trying to make our streets safe.'
Noem expressed her happiness at never having given a penny to the 29-year-old and added that she had never listened to Bryan before.
She also revealed plans to go out and 'download some' other artist, such as Jason Aldean, John Rich, Kid Rock, and Jon Pardi.
Meanwhile Bryan, who was called 'a piece of s**t', 'liberal' and 'p***y' online by angry listeners, attempted to quell the fury with his own statement, denying the song was anti-ICE.

Under the title 'pls f**n read this', he pleaded: 'I wrote this song months ago. I posted this song three months ago as a snipped. This shows you how divisive a narrative can be when shoved through social media.
'This song is about how much I love this country and everyone in it more than anything. When you hear the rest of the song, you will understand the full context that hits on both sides of the aisle.
'Everyone using this now as a weapon is only proving how devastatingly divided, we all are. We need to find our way back.'
He said the song is about 'all of us coming out of a divided space' and pressed that he wasn't speaking a politician, or 'some greater-than-thou a**hole,' but as a 29-year-old who is 'confused as everyone else'.
'To be clear, I'm on neither of these radical sides. To all those disappointed in me on either side of whatever you believe in just know I'm trying my best too and we all say things that are misconstrued sometimes.'

Bryan touched on how, over the last few months, he has been scrutinized more than he could have imagined.
'I feel like l've tried my hardest in so many ways and it's so hard to see where my bearings even are anymore. Been falling off a cliff while trying to grow wings at the same time.'
The snippet of Bryan's latest tune had been posted across his social media with the caption: 'The fading of the red, white, and blue.'
While only a teaser of the track was released, lyrics heard in Bad News quickly ignited widespread backlash.
The artist sings: 'And ICE is gonna come, bust down your door / Try to build a house no one builds no more / But I got a telephone / Kids are all scared and all alone / The middle finger’s rising, and it won’t stop showing / Got some bad news / The fading of the red, white and blue.'
In amidst the drama, The Department of Homeland Security trolled the artist by using his song Revival as background music for a recruitment video posted to X.
The video captioned: 'We’re having an All Night Revival' featured officers rounding up criminals and fighting off protestors as the song blares behind it all.

Bryan had previously avoided sending political messages in his music but had acknowledged the assassination attempt on President Trump in July of 2024.
'I don't support Trump or Biden, but the man got shot in the ear, head... and then fist bumped in the air. That is sick, dude!'
Bryan was spotted in a picture with the 45th and 47th presidents at the Super Bowl last year, accompanied by comedian Shane Gillis.
Donald Trump's deportation agenda is tracking to remove two million illegal migrants in 2025 and officials say it's 'just the beginning'.
Around 493,000 migrants have been deported since Trump took office in January, while another 1.6 million have self-deported.
Trump and Noem are responsible for having 'jumpstarted an agency that was vilified and barred from doings its job for the last four years,' spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said.
Another 457,000 illegal migrants have been arrested by ICE agents since January, as McLaughlin says law enforcement has made 'meteoric progress to carryout Trump's promise of arresting and deporting illegal aliens who have invaded our country.'
'Illegal aliens are hearing our message to leave now or face the consequence. Migrants are now even turning back before they reach our borders,' she told The New York Post.

The final year of Biden's presidency saw just 271,000 removed, which was an increase from 142,000 in 2023.
On the other side of the border, federal agents have only apprehended 238,000 migrants trying to illegally get into America during the 2025 fiscal year, a 55-year low.
That's a shocking drop from the height of the border crisis under Biden, when in 2022, a record 2.2 million were taken in at the border, CBS News reports.
Over 60 percent of the apprehensions at the Mexican border happened during Biden's final three months in office.
'President Trump has overwhelmingly delivered on his promise to secure our Southern Border,' said white house spokesperson Abigail Jackson.
'As a result, Americans are safer — unvetted criminal illegal aliens and dangerous drugs are no longer pouring over our border unchecked,' Jackson added.
'And for all the Democrats who claimed it was impossible to secure the border or that they needed new policy, turns out all we needed was a new president.'
