Jerry Brown is by any reasonable definition a member of the political ruling class in the formerly great state of California. As such he can be expected to be insulated, arrogant and clueless. He is now in his fourth term as Governor. He has been the Attorney General and the Mayor of Oakland.
It is just barely possible that his time as the mayor of the crime-ridden and gang-infested shithole of Oakland may have given him a modest (very modest) appreciation for the real problems of real people in the real world.
Acting yesterday he overruled the parole board and denied parole for Bruce Davis, a member of the notorious Manson Family. Davis was found guilty of murdering two people in 1969 and has been a guest of the state since 1972. He is now 71 years old.and has been recommended for parole several times. Both Governor Schwarzenegger and Governor Brown have pulled the rug out from under him.
Let’s hear it for Governor Moonbeam! His head isn’t completely up his ass.
