My opinion about the recent Alabama special election is that it was in fact very little about Donald Trump and very much about Moore being a really shitty candidate for a broad swatch of the electorate. If you are in favor of a theocracy, making the U.S. Senate an ecclesiastical office rather than a secular one and are "flexible" about age inappropriate relationships then Moore was your guy. If not, then you had to vote either for Jones or write in someone with zero chance of winning. There were in fact more write-in ballots than the split between Jones and Moore.
Moore is still hanging in there in hopes that military and provisional ballots will put him over the top. It is statistically possible. It is actually fairly likely they will bring him into the range of a reasonable recount.
I understand the idea of political purity and going for the guy you REALLY relate to. If, however, he is generally thought of as being a disgusting sleazeball with a realistic chance of not winning, maybe you should look elsewhere in your primary.
Fortunately Jones is not likely to be around that long. Next year it is very likely, almost certain in fact, that another, more palatable Republican will be sent to DC from 'bama.
Live and lean folks. Live and learn.
