Oliver North, 74, Lt Colonel, USMC (ret.), was named president of the National Rifle Association on Monday. North was picked by the NRA Board of Directors for a two-year term. Wayne LaPierre is staying on as V. P. and C E O. The immediate past president, Pete Brownell, did not seek a second term.
It is anticipated that North will be a President in the mold of the late Charlton Heston and will be much more visible than recent presidents have been. The 5 million member organization is catching a lot of heat from anti-gun psychopaths in the wake of the Dallas and Parkland shootings. .
