Regular readers will know that last month SCOTUS ruled that public employee unions could not force non-members to pay a "fair share" or "agency" fee for representation. The National Right To Work Foundation has just filed to compel the SEIU Local 1000, a large union representing various mostly clerical and miscellaneous workers in CA, to refund a buttload of money to about 40,000 current and former members due to their overly burdensome "opt out" procedure. This would cost SEIU a tad over $100 million by rough estimate, retroactive to 2012.
In 2012 SCOTUS ruled that SEIU Local 1000 had inappropriately charged employees a "political action fee" without their consent. They might actually make this fly, which would either seriously cripple or even kill off SEIU Local 1000. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of asswipes.
