The cops in Israel briefly detained Rabbi Dui Haiyun, who belongs to the Conservative Judaism Movement, after rousting him at 0530 at his home.
It seems that the Rabbinical Court in Haifa filed a complaint against him. Under the law weddings in Israel must be performed by an Orthodox rabbi.
Other streams of Judaism are more than a little tweaked about this, and the situation caused some stir with Israeli lawmakers.
I wonder how they feel about Wiccan weddings?
