ARE THE CRIMINALS RUNNING CHICAGO?

After a load firearms was taken from the Chicago rail yard, the Norfolk Southern Rail Road in conjunction with the Chicago Police Department decided to do some pro-active policing.

Norfolk Southern Railroad Police placed a semi-truck trailer on a street near the rail yard filled with highly sought after Nike tennis shoes. They also rigged the trailer with surveillance equipment and GPS monitors in an effort to catch thieves who might decide to break into the trailer.

Cargo theft is a major crime across the country. I have attended cargo theft schools that taught sting operations similar to the one used in Chicago. They are a common deterrent. Let's not forget that a recent theft of weapons had already hit the crime ridden streets of Chicago and large number of their citizens had been killed last weekend.

In my opinion, local government would be overjoyed to have a sting operation to catch criminals to be conducted in their city. Not Chicago. In fact, the police department distanced itself from the operation after criticism came to light.

Who would be against catching criminals? According to the media, local politicians and the ACLU have found fault with the operation. They cited the fact that these bait operations hurt community/police relations. Norfolk Southern Railroad also issued a statement after receiving the criticism.

"Norfolk Southern recognizes that despite the need to safeguard freight in the area, this operation eroded trust between us and the community," spokesperson, Susan Terpay said in a statement. "We sincerely regret that our actions caused further unease and we don't plan to use this method in the future."

Terpay also mentioned that the operation had been conducted due to complaints of cargo theft in the community along with the recent theft of guns and ammunition that had found it's way to the streets of Chicago.

But wait. It gets better.

According to the local media, three suspects that had been charged with stealing shoes from the secure bait truck were also let go in the interest of justice by the states attorney. WTF?

So, in an effort to establish good community relations with criminals in the area of the freight yards, Norfolk Railroad and Chicago PD have thrown up their hands and will not conduct pro-active anti theft operations in the future.

Folks, Chicago is circling the drain and the criminals with the backing of local politicians and the ACLU are running this shit show.

That's the way I see it.
