Youth football coach shot twice at Antioch H.S., suspect at large

ANTIOCH, Tennessee -- A 42-year-old youth football coach is recovering from injuries after he was shot twice by an angry parent at Antioch High School on Saturday night.
The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Saturday, just after a youth football jamboree that was not associated with Metro Nashville Public Schools.
According to police, the incident occurred after the victim broke up an altercation between two juveniles, angering one of their fathers.
Witnesses on the scene told News4 the suspect, who they believe was a parent, walked up to a group of people after the game and asked, "Who laid his hands on my kid?"
When the coach from the opposing team raised his hand, the man asked him to speak with him privately.
The coach told police the man was angry over the way he had intervened in the fight between his son and another player an asked him to meet him under the bleachers.
That's when the man pulled out a pistol and fired multiple shots, the victim told police.
The coach was shot twice in his right leg. He was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital.
Officials said South Precinct detectives are still working to identify the suspect, described as black man in his mid-30s with tattoos on his cheek and forehead, who can be seen on surveillance video from the ballpark.
Police say the suspect fled the scene in an unknown vehicle and remains at-large.

I have often heard that these things would be much nicer, smoother and more positive experiences for the kids if the parents were banned. Maybe it is true.
