You learn something new every day. Yesterday I learned that Monsignor Frank Rossi, top monsignor of the Roman Catholic Church in Texas, is in fairly serious trouble for doing just that. It is apparently a very serious breach of cannon law to take confession from a woman (or presumably a man) that you are having an illicit sexual relationship with. The woman was married at the time.
The archdiocese is defending Rossi, asserting that the "relationship" was consensual and did not involve actual intercourse. It is also alleged Rossi used the relationship to solicit donations to the church. The cops are involved in that end of the investigation.
The Lord truly works in mysterious ways.

People in lust have found out more secrets than anyone else. Governments use this method all the time. Sounds like you are writing about the same Priests that have been sodomizing children and fucking Nuns for centuries.
People do and say stupid and terrible things all the time. Even priests and wannabe journalists, Bob.
True. However, when you work for a huge multi-national organization that is also legally a nation state, and that government, as a matter of policy, covers up criminal activity and protects criminals that work for it, you tend to get more criminal activity than you might get otherwise.
Can't argue with that.
