US Rep. for New York Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was criticized by the Jewish community only on Tuesday after tweeting of migrant detention centers in El Paso, Texas: ''These are concentration camps.'

Among the over 11,000 replies to the post, people who identified as Jewish in their Twitter bios responded to AOC with outrage over the comparison, accusing her of disrespecting Holocaust survivors.

Offline, AOC said the United States is 'headed to fascism' after she toured detention centers at the border and the noted the 'horrifying' conditions in which women and children were being held.

Ocasio-Cortez tweeted Tuesday that they were 'were locked in a cage under armed guard', 'drank out of a toilet' and 'given food of such poor nutritional value, for so long, that it gave [them] mouth sores'.

'Are we headed to fascism? Yes. I don't think there's a question,' the congresswoman told Yahoo News on Monday after the El Paso visit. 'If you actually take the time to study, and to look at the steps, and to see how government transforms under authoritarian regimes, and look at the political decisions and patterns of this president, the answer is yes.'

AOC doubled down on her claim that the Customs and Border Patrol centers were like World War II as she claimed the crisis was 'completely engineered by [Donald Trump]'.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I disagree with my fellow Jews who are outraged at AOC over her use of the term concentration camp. I do not think she meant to disrespect Holocaust survivors. Besides that, I do not believe the term ‘concentration camp’ in and of itself should not be offensive to Jewish people. There are concentration camps and there were Nazi concentration camps, a big difference.

The real fascism in this country is coming from the left, not the right. That has been true for 15-20 years, probably more.
