Punxsutawney Phil gives his Groundhog Day prediction and calls an early spring after casting no shadow

Pennsylvania's most famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil has revealed there will be an early spring this year. At sunrise on Sunday, members of Phil's hat-wearing inner circle revealed the furry forecaster's prediction.
The annual event has its origin in a German legend that says if a furry rodent casts a shadow on Feb. 2, winter continues. If not, spring comes early.
In reality, Phil's prediction is decided ahead of time by the group on Gobbler's Knob, a tiny hill just outside Punxsutawney. That's about 65 miles northeast of Pittsburgh.
The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals in the days leading up to this year's prediction urged the inner circle group in a letter to replace Phil with a robotic version. Bill Deely, the club's president, said he he had not seen PETA's letter, but he welcomed the animal rights group to come and see that 'Phil lives better than the average child in Western Pennsylvania'.
Phil, while famous for decades because of the tradition, got a boost in popularity thanks to the classic Bill Murray film, 'Groundhog Day', from 1993.

The Texas State Symbol an Armadillo named, Toothless came out of his burrow. Toothless dropped a load and went back in. It doesn't mean anything. Nobody can predict Texas weather. Nobody.
Phil hits it right only about 39% of the time.
