TWO CA. FIREFIGHTERS KILLED IN ARSON FIRE

by Bob Walsh

There was a very nasty fire in the public library in the city of Porterville on Tuesday evening. It pretty much destroyed the building and killed two firefighters. Fire Captain Raymond Figueroa, 35, died Tuesday night. Firefighter Patrick Jones, 25, is also believed to have died in the fire but his body has not yet been recovered from the rubble of the building.

The fire went to three alarms and was responded to by Fresno and Tulare County units.

The fire started during business hours, at about 4 P.M. Staff and visitors successfully evacuated the building, most of them before the fire department arrived.

Two 13-year old boys are in custody for starting the fire. Due to the unfortunate tilt in CA away from finding ANYBODY responsible for ANYTHING in CA it seems unlikely the two little bastards will suffer any serious penalty even if they are determined to be responsible for the fire. In fact CA is moving towards including 19 and 20-year olds in the juvenile sentencing system.

EDITOR'S NOTE: I'll bet those two boys will only get a slap in the wrist for playing with fire.

Porterville had a huge gang presence that had overwhelmed the local police 20 years ago. State cops had to assist with law enforcement. My wife was offered a Nursing position that paid very well. I looked into Porterville and saw what was going on. I also called a local cop who told me not to come there because of the gang activity. I hope it has improved.
