WILL MIKE BLOOMBERG TURN INTO CHARLES FOSTER KANE ?

by Bob Walsh

William Randolph Hearst was an immensely rich and powerful newspaper owner. He ran for president in 1904. His (unsuccessful) run was generally believed to be the model for the character Charles Foster Kane in what is arguably the finest movie every made, Citizen Kane.

By the time you read this there will be one "debate" under his belt. Bloomie is not known as a riveting public speaker. It is a virtual certainty that he will be more or less attacked by everybody else on the stage for his attempting to buy the presidency. The criticism is not complete bullshit. I am not sure they will want to kick the crap out of him because he has semi-promised to fund whoever gets the nomination in their bid to defeat the anti-Christ Donald Trump.

He will also probably be maligned to ducking out on the first four contests and instead settling for pouring what is, as of this writing, about $450 million (of his own money) into the race.

In the national polls he has bought his way into the #2 spot, about ten points behind Crazy Bernie but well ahead of Joe The Hairsniffer. Of course we do not elect presidents nationally, so that polling info is interesting but maybe not important.

I may actually watch some of the debate and see if Mini-Mike gets a black eye, or kicks some of his opponents in the shins.

EDITOR'S NOTE: I watched last night's debate and Bloomberg was a no nothing. He let Warren and Sanders constantly attack him with hardly a response.

Yup, Bloomie did NOT have his best night in the world up there on stage. In fact it was pretty pitiful. He is used to being an an arena where being smart and rich makes you invulnerable. I expect he had a rude awakening. In two weeks we will find out how successful his attempt to buy an election has been.
